A case of a giant dermoid cyst 01 the orbit associated with microphthalmia in a two-year old female child is reported. Clinical diagnosis of the condition was made when the child was two months old, although it had been observed at birth by the parents.
Dermoid cysts of the orbit are uncommon orbital tumours that occur primarily in the pediatric population. They are divided into deep and superficial lesions with deep lesions presenting later in life. Depending on the location, size, the patient may present proptosis, diplopia, and restriction of eye movements.

Posteriorly the bone is deficient in a number of areas with the cyst communicating with the middle cranial fossa with no evidence of extension into the intracranial compartment, and no changes in the adjacent (abutting) temporal pole. Orbital dermoid cyst represents 3 to 4% of all primary orbital tumors. The intraorbital location is relatively rare and it commonly occurs at childhood. We reported the case of a 4-year-old male child with an intraorbital dermoid cyst, who presented with progressive left proptosis, which had noticed 6 months earlier. Dermoid inclusion cysts are congenital and perhaps the most common orbital tumor of childhood, accounting for the majority of such lesions (either sampled in biopsy or excised) (, 1).
